Miscellaneous News- BBC News reports, “Crime ‘damages’ Mexico Economy,” Mexico’s finance minister has said that crime and violence have had a significant impact on the country’s economy cutting growth by 1%
- “Run with Your Dog” in Playas de Rosarito Sept. 7 9am, Reforma Sports Complex (see below)
- Baja Times reports about the authorities performing "bureaucratic procedures that demand to each single pharmacy to go through a heavy inspection of permits and medicines that they sold,” and continues, “This is the main reason why there was the presence of many police officers for a phew hours in the first blocks from the tourist area of the city.” Phew?

“Run with Your Dog” in Playas de RosaritoThe following article is a verbatim press-release from the FRAO (Foreign Residents Attention Office). ROSARITO BEACH - With the purpose of promote sports and good animal care, the IV Rosarito Beach City Hall through the Direction of Municipal Medical Services and the Municipal Institute of Sports in Rosarito (IMDER in Spanish) organize the event “Run with your Dog”, that will take place next Sunday September 7th starting at 9 am in Unidad Deportiva Reforma. There will be three categories, Kids from 6 to 10 years old running 100 meters, Kids from 11 to 14 years old running 150 meters, and for participants 15 years or older 400 and 800 meters, with prices for the first three in each categorie informed Carlos Mier y Terán, capture coordinator of the Canine Atenttion Center of the local goverment. Hence, he said, we are inviting the citizens to participate in this event and share a good time with your pet, for that reason it’s require that all dogs have a chain or a muzzle if needed, to ensure the rest of the participants protection. In the same way, Mier y Terán added, we suggest the owners to use sport shoes, to bring water and bags to pick up their dog’s waste. By the foregoing, the Municipal goverment invites the Rosarito residents who owns a dog, to sign up at the phone numbers (661) 612 22 54 at the Rosarito Municipal Institute of Sports or at 100 23 87 in Municipal Medical Services.
